TeleVerify, LLC (televerify.org) provides real-time telehealth compliance verification to licensed healthcare providers. Providers use TeleVerify to confirm they are licensed in the patient's state at the moment of a telehealth session, including audio-only phone sessions.
TeleVerify sends transactional SMS messages on behalf of healthcare providers to their patients for the sole purpose of verifying patient location prior to a scheduled or in-progress telehealth session. SMS is initiated by the patient's provider through the TeleVerify dashboard; TeleVerify does not send promotional messages, marketing, or unsolicited communications via SMS.
The patient receives a single message containing a one-time link to a secure verification page where they confirm their current state. Sample message:
Messages are sent only when a provider initiates a phone-based or remote-verification session. A typical patient receives one message per session, with at most a small handful per month. There is no scheduled or recurring SMS campaign.
The patient's healthcare provider has an existing treatment relationship with the patient and has been given the patient's mobile number for clinical communication. Before initiating a TeleVerify SMS, the provider confirms with the patient that they may receive a verification text. TeleVerify operates as a HIPAA business associate of the provider under signed Business Associate Agreements.
A patient can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any TeleVerify SMS. They will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts. Replying HELP returns contact information for support.
Standard message and data rates from the patient's mobile carrier may apply. TeleVerify does not charge patients for SMS.
Phone numbers and verification details are stored only as needed to deliver the verification flow and to maintain audit records for compliance purposes. For more, see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
